Best things to do on the gold coast this december
The Queensland Life
The Luxe Life

Your school holiday Sanctuary comes to life with a summer escape balancing adventure with intoxicating relaxation; the Resort is summer-ready, are you? We connected with our Concierge member, Rachel Lavery, to find out what’s happening in the Gold Coast this December.

1.      The Worlds’ Put On A Festive Show

The Resort is conveniently located only minutes from Australia’s favourite theme parks, so why not spend your summer adventuring in the Gold Coast’s worlds’? Experience Movie World’s White Christmas Parade, tinselled with street performances and themed floats, or explore Dreamworld’s Park after Dark: Family Christmas with hair-raising activities including blindfolded roller-coaster rides.

2.      Gold Coast Mini Snow Park

Immerse yourself in adrenaline-inducing family fun at Gold Coast Mini Snow Park, playing a game of foam-tipped arrow tag in the heart of Surfer’s Paradise. Get a taste for the mini park this year as they will be developing a whole range of attractions launching throughout next year including tube slides and ice-carting.

3.      Spend A Day On The Green

Book your kids into our Planet Trekker’s Kids Club for the day, and embark on a day spent on the greens. KC and the Sunshine Band and the Village People are performing live in Sirromet Wines Mount Cotton Winery on 17 December. A children-free day spent in the Queensland sun with live music, local wine and summer vibes? Perfection.

4.      Let’s spend the night watching Movies Under The Stars

Movies Under The Stars are showing festive classics including Muppet Christmas Carol, Arthur Christmas and Polar Express this December. Get into the Christmas spirit with this family outing, there will be food truck fiestas, pre-movie interactive kids fun and animal shows – this outdoor cinema is bound to spark memorable festive moments under the stars.

5.      The reason why you came to the Gold Coast… The beautiful beaches

The summer season welcomes a buzzing beach scene with free tai chi classes available at Paradise Point or Burleigh Heads and kayaking and snorkelling on Wave Break Island. Start your day early to avoid crowds, the hottest part of the day and missing out on your favourite picks from Cove Café’s breakfast buffet.

6.      Christmas Shopping In The Markets

Christmas is around the corner, and there are presents to be bought. But why spend your summer cooped up inside shopping malls when there are plenty of outdoor markets popping up on the Gold Coast this December? Whether it be the Village markets on every first and third Sunday or Nightquarter on a Friday or Saturday night – you’ll find many trinkets to wrap up and put underneath the Christmas tree.
