Tamborine Mountain is a regular Sunday drive destination amongst Gold Coast locals and the perfect daytrip location for those vacationing in the Gold Coast. This remnant of an ancient volcano is home to lush rainforests sporting a variety of tropical flora and fauna including century old trees and prehistoric ferns. It is the perfect place to reconnect with nature with 12 walking tracks in total and a number of lookouts including Cedar Creek Falls, which boasts the only swimmable rock pools on the mountain.
Discover a rich abundance of fun-filled activities; take a walk on the Skywalk, a cantilever bridge 30 metres above the forest floor, bring on adventure with a trail ride through forest surrounds or challenge yourself to the on-site ropes course. Kids will absolutely love hunting for thunder eggs or visiting a glow work cave, so rest assured there's an activity that's sure to delight each member of the family!
With rich volcanic soil and a mild climate it is no surprise that Tamborine Mountain is a mecca for artisan producers. Local produce is a popular topic now and is not just siloed to culinary connoisseurs and this region is known for producing some truly tantalising offerings. Relax with a coffee made from beans grown and roasted at Tamborine’s only coffee plantation or indulge in locally made cheese accompanied by one of the many wines, beers and spirits made and distilled on the mountain. Be sure to call into Gallery Walk's famous Fudge heaven on the way home, stocking over 40 flavours of fudge - this sweet shop is just too tempting to resist!
After a day of exploring and indulging we recommend watching the sun set from the escarpment on Mains Western Road (also known to the locals as Hangliders Lookout as it is a popular launch site) before you make your way back to the resort for a relaxing evening.
