How to spend winter on the Gold Coast

While winter on the Gold Coast doesn’t exactly conjure up images of grey skies, heavy rainfall and cosy down-feather jackets (we’re looking at you, Melbourne!), we still offer an abundance  of  events and activites  for the culture connoisseur including wining and dining, sojourns at the theatre and road trips out of town. Our expert in-the-know concierge team has helped curate a list of the best Gold Coast winter activities to savour into this season.

The Sydney Dance Company makes its way to the Gold Coast with ab (intra), an exploration of the depth of human impulse. Meaning ‘from within’ in Latin, ab (intra) promises a magnetic journey into the extremes of human nature and invites the audience to discover what drives our relationships and ignites our ambitions.

The Arts Centre Gold Coast showcases an array of films throughout the year, and kicking off this August is The Wife, a poignant, funny and emotional journey celebrating womanhood, self-discovery and liberation. Starring Glenn Close and Christian Slater, the film opens at the Arts Centre on August 2.

For the foodies among us, we have listed one culinary event that is sure to excite and ignite. Running until 31 July, the Taste Tweed Winter Food Festival is a fun-filled activity for the whole family. The festival’s main focus will be on the amazing Tweed region – its people, its produce and its places. The Peppers Signature Dinner at Season’s Restaurant, the Fashion and Food Show and the Taste Tweed River Cruise are always popular events but there are also a bunch of new and exciting additions to the program including International Chocolate Day.

Until 31 July

Tweed Heads, New South Wales

One of the most fun Gold Coast winter activities is jumping in the car and hitting the road for an adventure. The Gold Coast is positioned in a prime location, close to an abundance of surrounding wineries. A short drive away, you will find Cedar Creek Estate, Witches Falls Winery, Sirromet Winery and Flame Hill. There’s something incredibly comforting about visiting a winery, with the picturesque scenic views of the vineyards and the enticing local produce to inspire visitors.

We hope you enjoy our list of Gold Coast winter activities. Don't forget, our friendly concirege is always here to help, so be sure to reach out if you are after more ideas for things to do in the surrounding area.
