Continuing with the next chapter on The Fireplace’s 300-strong wine list, which commenced with a glimpse into Australia’s most iconic wine brands, Henschke here, we dive deep into wines of the beloved Barossa, with a focus on the Valley’s iconic Shiraz varietals.
The Fireplace’s wine list has been consistently awarded two wine glasses in the annual Australian Wine List of the Year Awards for three years in a row. It was also last year honoured with its second accolade, Gourmet awarded a rating of ‘two glasses or highly recommended’ in the 2017 Traveller Wine List of the Year Awards.
Determined to spark curiosity, stretch imaginations and ignite true passion in wine choices, the stories of our wine library are paired with a series of producer profiles that dive deep into the history, mindset, and stories of the passionate families who hone in on this timeless craft.
Shiraz is to Barossa Valley what Champagne is to France. Barossa is home to more than 550 grape-growing families, many of which still have their sixth generation working the same plot of land, supplying quality grapes to more than 170 wine companies. Barossa Shiraz has led the way as the region’s hero and is a major factor in making Barossa stand out as one of the world’s greatest wine regions.
The Fireplace has hand-selected a large stable of wines from some iconic winemakers with different winemaking styles representing the diversity of the region. The region incorporates both the Barossa Valley and Eden Valleys, making it one of the only wine regions in Australia to have neighbouring warm and cool climate growing conditions.
On the list, diners will find favourites from Hently Farm, including ‘The Beast’, world-class Penfolds Granze Shiraz, 2014 Yalumba Paradox plus so much more. Click here to see the full wine list.
