Bursting with beautiful photography, luxury  travel tips and inspiration for your next trip to  the Gold Coast, we’re sharing her stories in The InterContinental Life’s first guest blog.

72 Hours in paradise at The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort

Early morning dips with the beach pool all to myself.

As summer draws dangerously close to packing it’s bags for yet another year,  I felt that one last sunshine filled escape should be on the cards before an already busy 2018 got into full swing.

So Matt and I filled our own overnighters and jetted off to the glistening Gold Coast for 3 days of rest, relaxation and of course a little bit of exploring.

And here’s exactly what our itinerary  held for 72 hours in one of Australia’s most beautiful destinations!

Checking into the resort

We flew direct from Cairns to the GC and after a little over 2 hours in the air and a short cab ride to Hope Island we arrived in paradise at The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

This grand resort is located at the northern end of the strip, quietly removed from the bustling town of Surfers Paradise and provides a relaxing escape from everyday life, allowing guests to really unwind.

Which is exactly what we had in mind!

Early mornings at Sanctuary Cove – the view from our room!

With loads to do around the resort including access to  three championship golf courses, 4.2 hectares of lush gardens to explore, an award winning day spa and a selection of delicious restaurants to fill our bellies, not to mention the excitement of all that the Gold Coast has to offer right at our very doorstep.

It was safe to say the next three days would well and truely keep us entertained!

Poolside with Cocktails and Palm Trees

After check in, the rest of the day was ours, so we spent it lazing about on lilos and sipping on cocktails from the pool bar – Pure Bliss!

The resort offers  a couple of places to cool off from the warm Queensland climate, with both the terrace pool and stunning beach lagoon (my personal favourite) providing the perfect spots to get wet.

The palm tree lined lagoon is HUGE and is fringed with soft white sand and enough space to float around for hours. Which is exactly what we did, certainly getting our daily dose of vitamin D!

Absolutely loved every moment of this escape!

Dinner Time at The Fireplace

Dinner that night was enjoyed at The Fireplace, which served up a range of exquisite dishes, including some mouth watering wood-fired cuisines that filled our bellies to the point of bursting!

Lucky it wasn’t far back to bed for an early night!

Dinner time at The Fireplace – a delicious High Country Pork Cutlet with apple and fennel chutney !

Escaping  to the Hinterland with Pineapple Tours

We awoke the next day to blue skies and not a cloud in sight, perfect weather for a little bit of exploring.

So after a hearty buffet breakfast at The Cove- which I might add included a plateful of Belgian Waffles with maple syrup and mountains of whipped cream! Yummy!

We were then whisked away by Pete from Pineapple Tours, on our very own private winery tour to the gorgeous Mt Tambourine Wine Region.

Having way too much fun exploring the hinterland at the beautiful Witches Falls Winery

Our full day tour was jam packed with treats for the tastebuds  and covered plenty of ground as we sampled some of the Gold Coast regions finest drops.

But wine wasn’t the only thing on the menu, ohh no we set our lips on some delicious craft beers, guzzled down a few glasses of refreshing cider and sampled some exotic flavours of liqueur,  including lavender which I thought was surprisingly delish!

When it came to food, we indulged on locally made cheeses, enjoyed a hearty lunch from Heritage Wines and finished the day with way too many samples of  fudge and every different type of candy you can imagine.

Thanks to Pete, our incredibly knowledgable and friendly tour guide, the whole day simply perfect.

It was definitely early to bed that night, after a little bit too much wine and fudge!

Early rises and one last day of exploring the Gold Coast

Our last day on the GC was greeted with a truely picture perfect sunrise, which we enjoyed with the lagoon pool all to ourselves.

There really is no better way to wake up than with the sun!

Then after another healthy dose of waffels from the Buffet at The Cove, we headed into Surfers to explore the shops and check out some action on the beach.

All in all a perfect final summer escape for the year! Thanks to The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort for having us, we loved every moment of it and I hope you guys enjoyed following along!
