From the 16-18 September, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s General Manager, Matt Rippin, will be taking on the 2017 Mount Franklin Cardiac Challenge. Over three long days, Matt will ride 333kms to raise money for cardiac funding in Far North Queensland. This cause actively raises much needed funds for cardiac equipment and research for the hospitals in Far North Queensland and is incredibly close to Matt’s heart.

He is taking on the three-day long ride for his family, after two years ago their worlds were turned upside down with Matt’s wife Kerry discovering a 90% blockage in her main artery to her heart which caused an aneurysm. Thanks to the amazing work of the talented doctors at Cairns Hospital, Kerry was able to continue to be a Super Mum and Super Wife after undergoing a lifesaving non-invasive stent implant. On 16 September Matt will ride for anyone that has been affected by heart disease, a cause which is prevalent in his family and effects his loved ones in a profound way.

Matt is calling all of Queensland to get involved in this worthy cause and asking for support on his ride from Cairns to Cooktown on a push bike. Last year he was blown away by the overwhelming generosity of his supporters after they collectively contributed over $10,000 to cardiac funding. Matt encourages this same level of support in 2017 sharing, “by giving you are saving lives and making a huge difference to Queensland families, just like mine, who have been effected by this life-threatening health issue.”

The Resort is getting behind Matt as he takes on the ultimate challenge, and we ask that you do the same. Please consider giving a small donation as it going to be a hell of a ride, for hell of a cause!

So far, Matt has raised an incredible $3,478 for Cairns Hospital nearly reaching his goal of $4,000.
