Whether you’re an actual kid or just a big kid at heart, the world-famous theme parks are a must-do when visiting the Gold Coast. Promising wild rides, heart-thumping thrills and wilderness adventures, stepping into these parks take punters to a whole new world of fun and fantasy. Here, we provide the low-down on what to do and see at the top four to guarantee a top time.

Movie World

Experience first-class rides, action-packed shows, and a realm of family fun on Australia's Gold Coast at Warner Bros. Movie World, located only 15 minutes from InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

In summer weather, the Looney Tunes splash zone is a thrilling way to cool off for smaller children. But if you are looking for maximum dare-devil rides then take on the Green Lantern Coaster or the Doomsday Destroyer. Of course, Movie World is also seen as the premiere theme park destination for any movie enthusiasts with the Streets Star Parade the perfect chance to see some of your favourite characters in real-life.

Dreamworld

Dreamworld is the Gold Coast’s largest theme park with arguably the most action-packed rides, if you are game give yourself the day to tick off each of the park’s Big 9 Thrill Rides. The Pandamonium, Hot Wheels Sidewinder and The Giant Drop always have our guests buzzing.

While Dreamworld caters for thrill-seekers, it is the perfect kid’s playground as well. Take your little ones to ABC Kids World and Wiggles World, leaving plenty of time for them to pick out a souvenir from Lego Store. For a guaranteed wild time for the whole family, visit Dreamworld’s Australian Wildlife Experience which is one of the largest, native wildlife parks in Queensland, and Tiger Island home to the jungle’s most feared predators.

Sea World

Sea World is the premier marine animal park on the Gold Coast with a vast array of aquatic wildlife, educational shows and plenty of rides. There’s plenty to sea – pardon the pun – with Penguin Encounters, Shark Bay and Seal Harbour to name a few. You must make time to visit Hudson, Nelson and Liya at Polar Bear Shores, which has large underwater viewing stations.

For a truly unique experience, go on an Animal Adventure choosing from deep water swims with Dolphins, Shark Encounters or even seal safaris.  The animal fun is endless!

Wet’n Wild

Flit from observing marine life at Sea World, to making a splash yourself with a visit to Wet’n’Wild - you’re guaranteed to leave the park drenched with a smile plastered from ear to ear. If you’re searching for heart-racing action then dive into the Extreme H20 rides, trying out Blackhole’s adrenaline pumping pitch black spiral of darkness and blasting down the Tornado’s 40 metre long tunnel. The best part? Wet’n Wild has miniature versions of their famous rides for juniors – no tantrums here!

If you are looking to flop and drop, wind down by the Whirlpool Springs which move from cold to steamy hot in winter months.
