Wedding stationery is something you want to get right. Your invitation is the first peephole into your wedding theme that guests will see, so it is important to set the scene with these initial first steps. We hunted down one of the Gold Coast’s premier stationary designers and retailers, Bronwyn McDonald Creative Director of Love Notes, who provides her expert insight into what is trending in wedding stationery for the next 12 months.

Calligraphy

Whether it is hand-lettered directly onto wedding stationery or printed in a calligraphy inspired font.  The cursive script adds elegance to all wedding announcements, from a traditional formal wedding style to a relaxed and simply stunning wedding celebration.

Acrylic

From white ink or black to gold print on clear acrylic is proving to be a popular choice for the modern bride when it comes to welcome signs, seating charts and table stationery.  Acrylic stationery adds a modern edge to rustic easels, timber tables and softened when adorned with fresh floral arrangements.

Paper

Handmade paper with deckled edges adds a raw touch to wedding stationery. Ideal for the less-is-more inspired wedding style with the focus being on detail. The slightly textured paper with delicately torn edges adds a raw touch to wedding stationery. Perfectly suited for calligraphy as well as printing directly onto the paper. We always recommend test printing first as printers vary.

Florals

Nature-inspired designs from botanicals to florals are always in season. Whether it’s an illustrated collection of colourful blooms or a touch of greenery, floral designs are ideal for an outdoor wedding soiree at a vineyard to an intimate wedding in a garden estate. We are also seeing a lot of flora-stamped wax seals making their way onto the back of envelopes for a personal touch as well as botanical print envelope liners.

Gold

Rose gold, yellow gold, gradient gold, traditional gold and gold foil have all made their way into colour palettes from invitations to on-the-day wedding stationery. From blush pink and navy themes to classic black and white, gold adds a touch of glamour and sophistication regardless of wedding style and/or budget.
