Renowned for its extensive library of the world’s rarest whiskies, Verandah Restaurant & Bar invites you to explore some of the globes’ finest, with flights created to celebrate the distinctive tastes of single-malt Scotch whisky and American Bourbon Small-Batch.
The first flight, “My Scotch Needs More Scotch”, is a series derived from malted barley, double-distilled and aged in bourbon barrels for a minimum of three years. For $29, this flight offers 15mls of Highland Park, aged 12 years, Aberlour A’bunadh, and Laphroaig, aged 10 years.
By contrast, the “Born in the U.S.A” flight is a collection distilled once, then aged in charred oak barrels. Generally sweeter than their Scotch counterparts, bourbon whiskey offers a raw, sweet corn flavour (due to the fact that bourbon is made with at least 51% corn). Small batch bourbons are made in limited amounts, and are characteristic of pre-prohibition whiskey with strong, rich flavours, heat, and aromas. For $25, this flight offers 15mls of Jim Beam Small Batch, Basil Hayden, and Eagle Rare- aged 10 years respectively.
